Giving Back to the Indians

Dear Billerica Lacrosse Alumni,

As the Head Coach of the Billerica Memorial High School Lacrosse program, I am very excited about the 2017 season. We have a great passion for what we do and we are surrounded by great people within the Billerica Lacrosse Family.  As you all know, we are a program rich in tradition and we take great pride in our student athlete’s success on and off the field.  Our players do an excellent job of preparing to be the BEST they can be, whether in the classroom, on the field, or in the community.

We had a memorable season last year, winning our 20th League Championship. Our lacrosse team had 1 All American (Jeff Trainor), 2 players selected for the Boston Lax All American Game (Trainor, Canto), 2 players make All Scholastic (Trainor, Canto), and 7 players make the MVC All-Conference team (Trainor, Canto, Laundry, Beck, Gobiel, Brooks, Milano).  Trainor was also nominated Boston Globe Male Athlete of the Year.

We also have 5 seniors from last year’s team currently playing lacrosse in college (Laundry-Towson St., Trainor-UMass, Canto-UMass Lowell, Milano-SNHU, Trask-Plymouth State).  Alumni Danny Lynch (2015) won a DII National Championship for Lemoyne College.  Danny Trainor (2013) is a captain at SNHU this season.  DJ Smith is the starting goalie for UMass. Tom McLaughlin is a Captain for Merrimack. Other alumni playing are Dave Rogers, Sean Farmer, Kevin Casey, Jim McLaughlin, and Chris Sordello.

Tyler Canto finished with 785 career saves #2 at Billerica and 47 wins as a starting goalie.  Drew Laundry finished his career #2 all time in points with 327.  Jeff Trainor finished his career #4 all time points but #1 as a midfielder with 308 points.  He also set the single season record for assists with 69.  This year’s team currently has 2 college Division 1 commitments.  We have 2 All Conference players returning and 3 MVC All Stars returning.  Needless to say, we are very excited about the tradition of our program and the up and coming 2017 season.

We as a staff are devoted to developing each athlete both on and off the field. We are dedicated to help each of our student-athletes find a school to compete at the collegiate level.  The coaches work hard each day planning, training and preparing our student athletes for the opportunities and challenges we face this spring.

The goals we hope to accomplish as players, coaches, and a program take vision, commitment, and resources. The large support of our program’s funding within the Billerica Lacrosse Family continues to be generated from the players, their parents, and alumni. This support is an imperative part in the success of our program. The Billerica Lacrosse Program is asking for your assistance to help make this possible. Any donation is greatly appreciated and a receipt will be issued for your support.  Below is a list of items needed to help our programs success and give our student athletes the most memorable experience possible.

  • Krossover- Online Software used to break down film along with the players making their own highlight films for college recruitment.
  • Team Shooter Shirts which go under their game uniforms.
  • Turf rentals if needed due to snow on fields or fields being too wet to use.
  • Various items such as nets, balls, equipment, agility ladders…..

Along with my staff, I would like to personally thank everyone in advance for supporting our program and invite each of you to a practice and game this year.  2017 is guaranteed to be an exciting season as we continue building a Standard of Excellence.  Checks can be made out to BMHS Boys Lacrosse and sent to 14 Gov. Hutchinson Rd., Billerica 01821.

Thank you for supporting your Billerica Memorial High School Lacrosse team.
