Billerica Lacrosse Family sadly announces the loss of Michael LeClair

Billerica Youth Lacrosse Board of Directors sadly announces the loss of one of our own.

Michael Le Clair, father of 3, Kara, Kyle and Brian all seniors at Billerica Memorial High School, and long time coach, board member, and friend has lost his courageously fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Kyle and Brian are both current players for the Varsity Lacrosse Team.  In the fall of 2012 Mike bravely approached many of the officers of BYL to inform his friends of his diagnosis.

In November, during our “Stick It to Pancreatic Cancer” fund raiser for Mike and his family, Billerica Youth Lacrosse, acknowledged Mike’s endless contributions to the program by unanimously awarding him with the 2013 Steve Connolly award. This award is given to the volunteer that gives more of themselves to the organization than any other individual.

Mike coached at every level of BYL. Teaching budding lacrosse players, from the town that he loved, every aspect of the game from how to hold a stick, to an 85 mile per hour shot off the wing.  A slide into the hole or a big stick check, Mike’s love of the game, and the young men he lead was on display on our field every spring.

Whether, it was arranging our annual fund raiser, showing up for field clean up or lining a field for a game Mike was a staple in our program for a decade. His impact on the lacrosse abilities of the young men that came through our program is immeasurable. Mike’s ideas and influences will be felt for years to come on the lacrosse fields of our town, colleges across the nation, and in the lives of each and every team, player and coach that had the honor of meeting him.

Rest in Peace Michael Le Clair.
