Russ Tedford scored 4 goals, including a pair in the fourth quarter to snap a 5-5 tie, as the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 1 champion Billerica High boys lacrosse team snapped a 5-5 tie and went on to a 7-5 league victory over visiting Andover Friday at Alumni Field.

The win was the eighth straight for BHS, which improved to 14-4 overall.

Elsewhere, Tyngsboro remained unbeaten and nailed down its league title with a hard-fought 12-10 win over second-place Oakmont Regional and Shawsheen also rallied and clinched a championship with a showdown victory over stubborn Nashoba Tech.

Ben Melaugh added 3 goals and an assist for the surging Indians, while Cam Slatton and Peter Walters notched an assist each.

Highly-regarded goalie D.J. Smith made 15 saves, and defensive standouts were Brian Leclair, Bryan Peterson, Nick Delmonico and Ed Jankowaki. Kevin Farrell was outstanding on faceoffs.
